The launch of a research satellite is planned for September 2nd, the Indian space agency announced on Monday on the online network X , formerly Twitter. The "Aditya-L1" satellite will be positioned in an area of space 1.5 million kilometers from Earth and will provide images of the sun from there.
Aditya-L1 will carry seven modules and observe the outer layers of the Sun using electromagnetic field detectors. According to the Indian space agency, the aim of the mission is, among other things, a better understanding of the dynamics of the solar wind.
Nasa and Esa have already sent missions to the sun
The US space agency Nasa and the European Space Agency ESA have already sent space probes into space to explore the sun - a first for India.
Last week, the country successfully landed at the south pole of the moon with the “Chandrayaan-3” space probe . In 2014, India became the first Asian nation to place a spacecraft into orbit around the planet Mars.
